This scenic drive meanders through the Blackall Range, the emerald green hills that surround the beaches and resort villages of the Sunshine Coast. Along this tour you will find quaint villages along the hillsides along with stores, cafes and galleries. To the far southern end of the tour is the sculptural majesty of the Glass House Mountains. This picturesque drive can be done in a day but if you care to stay overnight there are many accommodations available.

Starting at Noosa Heads, which is known for being a fashionable resort town on Laguna Bay at the mouth of Noosa Village. The clifftop views here are unbelievable. Leaving this location you will head to Eumundi, a 19th century timber town which is the starting point of the ascent to the hills. Wednesday and Saturdays are a great time to visit there because of the outdoor fresh markets. Next stop on this tour is Yandina. This is the home of the Ginger Factory, this is both a ginger factory and a theme park in one. Ginger is a high yielding local crop and the factory operations are combined with plenty of interesting experiences for the visitors. Don’t miss the Queensland Cane Train ride through the beautiful gardens.

On the way to the next location take a rest at the Dulong Lookout. The views here are breathtaking, from the rolling green hills to the dense forest, worth the stop. Mapleton falls National Park is a preserved rainforest with a lovely 120m waterfall. The road from Mapleton to Flaxton traces the Blackall Range and offers unparalleled views to the east and west. Just past Flaxton to the south is the turn-off to Kondalilla National Park where three are over 100 now bird species to be found. Another cascading waterfall can be fund here along with a rockpool for swimming.

Gerrard Lookout is located between Montville and Maleny at an astonishing 375 meters above sea level. The views here span from Caloundra to Noosa and just a bit further are views of Lake Baroon and the Kenilworth forest views. Mountain view road offers views of the Glass House Mountains which are all identified with proper signage.

The old Gympie Road is the one that cuts directly through the Glass House Mountains. The 16 volcanic plugs and plains of the Glass house Mountains are as high as 556 meters. Rock climbing is a necessity for exploring this area.
